Trevor Norman
Trevor Norman runs WildDogz in the South-West of England, covering Devon, Somerset, West Dorset and South-East Cornwall.
Having started training dogs as a hobby after a 12-year career in the Fire-Service, Trevor decided on a total career change and is working toward gaining a BA (Hons) degree with Middlesex University and the CIDBT.
Trevor has also decided to further this education through to a Doctorate in Animal Psychology and behaviour.
Working full-time with dogs, driven by the motivation of improving their quality of life and welfare through education, Trevor offers all aspects of obedience and companion dog training, currently on a one-to-one basis in addition to a full range of behaviour reformation work with an emphasis on teaching dogs good manners. Private weekly training classes will be available shortly as he is in the process of establishing a training centre and behaviour clinic as part of a “Canine Activity Centre” in East Devon covering all aspects of dog ownership.
Trevor takes enormous satisfaction in guiding owners to create a “Balance” in order to help their dogs adjust to a successful domestic relationship avoiding the need for the dog to be re-homed (and helping alleviate domestic disputes) and is passionate about the need to improve communication between people and their dogs – the more challenging the case the more rewarding it is.
Trevor deals with a large number of dogs taken from animal rescue centres and successfully helps both dog and new owner(s) embark on a successful and harmonious relationship.
With the firm belief of finding the root of the dogs problems, Trevor spends time with both dogs and clients, to dig deep into the dogs history in order to be able to understand and treat the cause of the problems and not just the symptoms – he does not believe in masking over the problem or simply “painting over the rust”.
Trevor has been successfully showing dogs for 4-years and has a pack of six Bichon Frise taking a first in class at Crufts 2011.
