Chris
Kent is a qualified social work professional who
for the past 25 years has specialised in working with families
who have experienced multiple disadvantage and social exclusion.
During this time she has also been a multiple dog owner,
with a passion for rescue dogs of all shapes and sizes.
Looking for a way to combine her areas of knowledge and
interest Chris, set up TheK9Project, a unique Canine Assisted
Learning and Activities programme specialising in working
with children and teenagers with special educational needs,
learning difficulties, or struggling in mainstream education.
This project works to educate responsible dog owners of
the future as well as increase self esteem and awareness
in the students.
She specialises in
working with families who would not usually be able to access
dog training and advice and using the power of dogs to help
young people learn who would otherwise find learning difficult.
In addition, Chris is an RSPCA Volunteer dog walker and
along with two of her dogs a Blue Cross Educational Speaker.
She is also finding time to studying hard to increase her
dog knowledge and experience with the Cambridge
